Barbara Louise Stake

Barbara Stake went to meet her Lord on September 13, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospice.  She was born Barbara Louise Chovan on January 21, 1945 in Bessemer, MI and was the daughter of Samuel and Gladys Chovan.

Barbara spent most of her life dedicated to her family as a stay-at-home wife and mother. Later in life she worked as a Deli Manager at Remke Food Store in various locations in Northern Kentucky.

She was the devoted wife of the late Ellwood "Chuck" Stake and they were married for 51 years. They loved to travel together and spent many years of their retirement vacationing in their RV, visiting family and friends and adventuring all over the United States.

Barbara was a faithful member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Florence. She loved her church family and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. As some of the first members of the congregation, she and her husband helped build the building which is their church home still today.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Ellwood, sister Edith Fritts and granddaughter Abrianna Anstey. She is survived by her son Mark Stake (Joan), daughter Rebecca Clark (Randall), granddaughters Alexis Anstey, Lora Gray, Erica Rolfes, Samantha McMillan (Jeremiah), brother-in-law Larry Stake (Donna), neice Janet Flottmeyer, nephew Lawrence Stake (Heather), nephew Michael Stake., and her great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday 11 AM, September 30, 2023 at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Florence, KY, with a reception to follow at the church. SWINDLER & CURRIN FUNERAL HOME, LATONIA is serving the family.
