Carol Riley Ackley entered heavenly rest on June 13, 2023.  She was married for 56 years to beloved husband Carlyle and is survived by her twin sons Douglas (Kathy) Ackley, David (Debbie) Ackley and grandchildren Elijah and Caitlin.  She is also survived by her sister Maureen Campbell, nieces Kim Campbell, Kathy Campbell, Kelly McClendon, Amanda Ackley, and nephew Robert Campbell.

Carol was a long-time member of Florence United Method Church where she joyfully and faithfully served in numerous positions including President of Kentucky Conference United Methodist Women, Conference Lay Leader Kentucky Annual Conference, Delegate General Assembly United Methodist Church, and many other servant leader positions.

Carol devoted her life to education and mentoring her students.  She graduated from Georgetown College and went on to earn a master's degree from Xavier University.  Carol taught in the Boone County Public schools for 32 years, and many former students count Mrs. Ackley as one of their favorite teachers due to her caring and passion for excellence.  Carol was also part-time faculty member at Northern Kentucky University where she had a role in mentoring many future teachers.

Carol will be remembered for her caring for others, her service to her community, and her love for Jesus.  She will be dearly missed.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 30 at the Florence Methodist Church 8585 Old Toll Rd, Florence, KY from 4 to 6 pm.  A memorial service will be held immediately after the visitation.  Memorials can be made to Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home or to Florence Methodist Church.
