Gene Earl Bachmann, 81, of Crestview Hills, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, peacefully. The son of the late Earl and Ethel Bachmann, Gene was born in Cincinnati, OH, on January 24, 1943. Gene was a lifetime member of Nova Caesarea Harmony Lodge No. 2. Professionally, Gene was a talented draftsman for General Electric. With his expertise and vision, it led him to a role as a manager. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed playing cards, doing renovations, bowling, tennis, traveling, fishing, and golfing. He was known for his generous spirit, infectious smile and laugh, socializing with family and friends, and his life lessons he gave to his children and grandchildren. ‍On April 18, 1964, Gene married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Bilz, and together they nurtured a beautiful family. A proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. Gene's family was most important to him, and he will be sorely missed. Predeceased by his sister Shirley Graham. Those left to carry on Gene's legacy are his three children, Brad (Suzan) Bachmann, Todd (Lynita) Bachmann, and Amy (Klaus) Opitz; grandchildren Rachel Bachmann, Jay Bachmann, Nick (Kali) Bachmann, Matt Bachmann, Alex Bachmann, Adam Bachmann, Mason Opitz, Madison Opitz, and Mackenzie Opitz; great-grandchildren Leo Bachmann and Nash Bachmann; and many friends. Gene's warmth, wisdom, and the joy he brought to life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His was a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire.  Visitation 11 – 1pm Monday, March 25, 2024 and service to celebrate Gene's life will be held at 1 pm at the Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, located at 214 W Southern Ave, Covington, KY 41015. Gene will be laid to rest at Mother of God Cemetery in Latonia immediately following services. Memorials can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 South Loop Road, Edgewood, KY 41017.
