IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gilbert Walter
Beck
January 6, 2026
Gilbert Walter Beck, age 98, of Ryland Heights, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Gilbert graduated from Simon Kenton High School in 1946 and was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving his country while stationed in Okawanna, Japan. After his military service, he worked for Newport Steel and Southern Ohio Fabrications. He was also a lifelong farmer, tending his 63-acre farm in southern Kenton County—a place that reflected his strong work ethic and deep love for the land.
Gilbert especially enjoyed attending tractor shows and spending time doing what he loved most. His 98 years were well lived, and he will be remembered with smiles, laughter, and fond memories by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Walter Lee Beck; daughters, Sharon (Brett) Stephenson and Lynda Rolf; four sisters, Joyce Jones, Wilma Ross, Marlene Bentley, and Marty Ann (Lou) Groger; and two grandchildren, Jillien Beck and Joe Crocket.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, 214 West Southern Avenue, Latonia, KY 41015. Burial will follow at Alexandria Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the VA Home Based Primary Care Team, Comfort Keepers, and Bluegrass Care Navigators for their compassionate care and support.
