Lucille Holmes Gibson, Edgewood, Kentucky, age 99, slipped quietly away from this world to meet her Lord and Savior at 11:15 PM on Saturday May 14 th , 2022. Alma Lucille Holmes, a native of Highland, Ohio, graduated from Berea College in 1945 and worked briefly as a dietitian at Kellogg's Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan and at Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky. She lived the majority of her adult life in Northern Kentucky. Lucille loved the Lord and was a member of Latonia Baptist Church in Covington, Kentucky, assistant Sunday School Teacher, PTA President at Simon Kenton High School and volunteer for many worthy causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Smith H. Gibson, MD, who passed in February, 2017 and her daughter Ruth Ann Gibson (Michael Lundberg) who passed in April, 2011. Lucille is survived by four children, William (Janet) Gibson of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, Nancy (Jerry) Clevenger of Advance, North Carolina, Lawrence (Rokea el Azhary) of Rochester, Minnesota and Laura (Kevin) Madden of Cummings, Georgia. Lucille's family includes 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
Her family will remember her great strength, humility and constant positive attitude in all circumstances as well as for her unconditional love. She was an exemplary role model for all who knew her and was constantly encouraging others. She touched the lives of countless individuals during her lifetime. Her sweet presence will be missed by all of her family and loved ones.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to Lucille's outstanding caregivers from Heaven Sent and Godsend who stayed with her in recent years, providing loving care and support. They would also like to thank the exceptional Hospice nurses from St. Elizabeth Healthcare Hospice who worked so hard to make Lucille's final days as comfortable as possible.
Visitation at 10:30 AM, immediately followed by funeral Services at 12 Noon all at Latonia Baptist Church, 3800 Church Street, Covington, KY Saturday, May 21, 2022. Private burial at Centerville Cemetery in Lees Creek, Ohio.
