Marie Irwin Barnett of Taylor Mill, KY passed away peacefully at Edgewood Hospice Center on Saturday, September 11, 2021. She was living at Charter Senior Living, after having just lost her husband, Eugene, a mere 3 months previous.

Marie was born on August 5th, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved with her family to Latonia, KY when she was 14. She graduated from Holmes High School in 1950 and married the following year, the love of her life, Gene Barnett.

She was a Proverbs 31 wife to the end. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, His church and her family most devotedly. She was an excellent seamstress, a truly marvelous cook like her mother and she knew flowers better than most horticulturalists. She had no college experience, but was a self-taught interior decorator and an amazing artist. She recalled fondly her years as an executive secretary at the KY Board of Education and several years later to the President of Fifth Third Bank in downtown Cincinnati. She loved Kentucky and was a proud American Patriot.

She is survived by her only brother, Jimmy, her 3 children, Becky Brown, Debbie Roth and Steve Barnett, 13 grandchildren and 34 great-grand children. She was the beloved matriarch and will be deeply missed by the family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 AM, September 18, 2021 at Grace Fellowship Church, 1800 Declaration Dr. Independence, KY. Friends will be received on that same morning from 9 -10:30AM. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill. Ron Brown, her son-in-law will be officiating.
