Nancy
Bishop
September 27, 2024
A life-long resident of Northern Kentucky, civic leader, volunteer, and homemaker Nancy Lee Marksbery Bishop died on September 27, 2024, one day after her 91st birthday.
Nancy Bishop was born on September 26, 1933, in Covington. She completed high school in 1951 at Holmes High School, where she was Homecoming Queen, cheerleader, and a member of the Student Government Association. She married Joe Bishop in 1952 and later moved to Taylor Mill in 1961.
She began participating in numerous civic and volunteer projects including United Methodist Women at Sunny Acres United Methodist Church; City of Taylor Mill Recreation Department, founding member; Cardinal Homemakers; Action Ministries; SPCA, taking dogs and cats from local shelters to nursing homes; Scott Eagle Club, founding member; Taylored With Time Senior Group, founding member; and Kentucky Colonels.
Nancy was a very active PTA member. She was also involved in her children's athletic activities, including service as a Northern Kentucky Swim League Representative and the Taylor Mill Swim Club, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame for her many years of volunteer work with the Taylor Mill Swim Team.
Hosting family and friends at her lake house on Lake Cumberland was one of her favorite activities that combined boating, water skiing, and countless spirited Euchre card games. Nancy was an adventurous traveler and after her husband's retirement as an engineer with Cincinnati Bell, her trips included Hawaii, Alaska, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, and Ireland. She was always ready to take family and friends around the state of Kentucky and Cincinnati to visit historic locations, including city, state, and national landmark sites. She also enjoyed researching family genealogy and family history.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her five beloved children: Laura Whitson (Scott); Jane Commins (Rick); Susan Litton (Glenn); Joseph Bishop (Stuart Noel); and Nancy Krallman (Kevin). She is also survived by eight adored grandchildren: Sarah Morman (Shaun), Jason Oliver (Erin), Jarod Oliver (Krista), Kelley Hayden (Carl), Jeffrey Whitson (Kristen), Alexandra Krallman (Don), Ashley Rabe (Kyle), Emily Litton, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret Marksbery and her husband Joe Bishop.
