Shirley Juanita Courtney Hacker, age 86 years, 5 months and 20 days, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 8:18 P.M. at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Edgewood, Kentucky.

Shirley was born December 28, 1937, in Pendleton County, Kentucky to Hubert E.  & Harriette Martina Ingles Courtney, both of whom preceded her in death.

Miss Shirley, as she was affectionately known, taught pre-school and Kindergarten for 27 years at Bethany Lutheran Church in Erlanger.  She was a member of Ashland Ave. Baptist Church in Latonia for over 50 years where she taught a children's Sunday School class, was Sunday School Superintendent for several years and headed the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry.

Shirley was also a caregiver, often sitting up through the night with an ailing relative.  She loved people unconditionally and had a way of making everyone she talked to feel special. Shirley was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

In addition to wonderful memories, Shirley leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years, James Robert "Bob" Hacker, three daughters, Melissa Susan Hacker, Ft. Thomas, Melody Noelle Dickens (Bill), Covington, and Sharon Harrison (Jamie),  Edgewood, 5 grandchildren, Joseph William Dickens (Hannah), Elizabeth Wednesday Oster (Michael), Frederick Josiah Kaiser (Katie), Mary Kathleen Harrison (Jonathan), and Caleb Kaiser and eight great-grandchildren, Grayson and Cordelia Oster, August and Althea Kaiser, Alexa Botts, Lincoln and Holly Harrison, and the youngest great-grandchild, Eliza Anne Dickens. She also leaves behind two sisters, Jewell Dean Schwartz and Linda Sue Webster, both of Pendleton County.

The funeral will be held at Redemption Church at Ashland Ave., 2735 Ashland Ave., Covington, KY on Friday, June 21, 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, with funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Downard Cemetery in Bracken County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Samaritan's Purse; St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital; Calvary Christian School, Covington, KY; or Redemption Church at Ashland Ave. in Latonia, KY.
