Obituary

Thomas M. Kennedy, (02/27/1941-04/11/2025) was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at his daughter's house. He was greatly loved by his family and will be deeply missed. He had a fervent love for his siblings and mother. Thomas was an Army Veteran who was passionate about telling stories of his service time traveling the world. We could recite his tour locations from memory, but his favorite was when he spent time in Ireland and had the opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone. Thomas had a dream of going back to Ireland, a love of different languages, and an insatiable desire for reading history books. Thomas loved spring & summer. He enjoyed sitting on the patio with his daughter telling stories, and reminiscing on the good days. His father was a minister and a straw boss in the coal mine. Thomas was very proud of his parents and all they taught him in his childhood state of West Virginia.

Thomas spent his final years surrounded by family. His daughter Sybil enjoyed being his care taker, and was his best friend. He enjoyed weekly visits with his grandchildren and his eyes would sparkle when his great granddaughters would visit.

Thomas didn't know a stranger – he was known for his gift of gab and eccentricism. He was larger than life and the center of attention wherever he went. Thomas spent his lifelong career in sales. He worked as President/Vice President of Marketing and Broadcasting. He worked at WCLU Radio, WHKK and most recently, ClassX radio. In his early years he owned his own advertising companies Kennedy Advertising & The Thomas Company. He also had his DJ license, investigator license and was a member of the Associated Press, and The Free Masonry- a 32nd degree Mason. Thomas went by the British term Esquire at times "a young nobleman". Thomas also attended college courses at Northern Kentucky Univertsity to further his education. Thomas also is preceded in death by his parents Bertha (Woosley) and Abraham Kennedy, his siblings Eula (Kennedy) King, Belvie Kennedy, Moscow Kennedy, Paul Kennedy, Silas Kennedy, Geneva (Kennedy) Snyder, Edward Kennedy, James Kennedy, Herman Kennedy, Gracie (Kennedy) Hatcher and Step-son Eric Patterson.

Thomas is survived by his wife Sarah (Patterson) Kennedy, his daughter Sybil (Eric) Schuler, Step Daughter Angela (Tom) Jonathan, his beloved grandchildren Kierra, Terrence, Tiffany, Kallie, Ayce, Donovan, Maddie, Ethan, Drew, Derek, Danielle and Dylan, and beloved great-grandchildren Rosalynn, Margot, Hazel, Dawson and Dalias, his sister-in-law Geraldine (Herman) Kennedy and his orange cat Danny Boy. Thomas will be laid to rest with his mother Bertha in West Virginia. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
